  • Carlyle Lake Christmas Tree Recycling Project

    CARLYLE LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Carlyle Lake will be collecting used, real Christmas trees for the annual Christmas Tree Recycling Project. The Corps of Engineers, along with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, uses these trees to provide effective and economical fish habitat at Carlyle Lake.
  • Boundary Maintenance Work at Carlyle Lake

    CARLYLE LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Carlyle Lake will be performing boundary maintenance work from December 20, 2021 through January 14, 2022 on multiple sections of the boundary line at Carlyle Lake, specifically the area from Muskrat Flats Access to Tamalco Boat Access. The boundary line maintenance work will consist of uniformed Park Rangers and volunteers walking the boundary lines, replacing signposts, identifying encroachments on government property, inspecting mowing permits, and clearing brush along the boundary line. The maintenance work is performed annually during the winter months when vegetation is at a minimum. Maintenance is necessary to maintain a visible boundary line and to protect the public lands at Carlyle Lake.

    Carlyle Lake – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Carlyle Lake will soon be looking for qualified candidates to fill student vacancies for the 2022 summer recreation season. Carlyle Lake offers a great work experience opportunity for students pursuing a career in the field of biology, outdoor recreation, or natural resource management.

  • Dam East – McNair Campground Reservations

    CARLYLE LAKE – Beginning Monday November 1, 2021, campers visiting Carlyle Lake will be able to make reservations at Dam East – McNair Campground for the 2022 recreation season. All sites in the campground will be available to reserve from the current day and up to six months in advance. The Spillway loop will remain open year-round and will also be available for reservations. There are also QR codes located on each individual site post that can be scanned with a phone camera or an app that reads QR codes to check availability and pay for the site. Unlike Dam West, Coles Creek, and Boulder, the sites within Dam East – McNair will not have a three-day booking window. All sites will be available to reserve instantly.
  • 2021 Water Control Operations/Dam Safety Meeting

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced plans for a public workshop to be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. at the Mariner’s Village Resort Conference Center in Carlyle, Illinois.
  • Carlyle Lake Main Dam Bridge Deck Closure

    CARLYLE LAKE – On Sunday, October 17, 2021, the Carlyle Lake Main Dam bridge deck will be closed for maintenance work. The work will include an annual inspection to ensure the integrity and increase the longevity of the structure. The work is expected to last through Friday, October 22, 2021.
  • Fall Opportunities at Carlyle Lake

    CARLYLE LAKE – Fall is a beautiful time to enjoy the outdoors! Carlyle Lake’s fall opportunities will keep you busy the entire season! Enjoy the cool fall temperatures with family and friends while roasting hot dogs and marshmallows over a crackling campfire. Carlyle Lake offers opportunities at several campgrounds that stay open for fall camping. Dam West and McNair Campgrounds will be open through 12 p.m. Monday, November 1st, 2021. Boulder Campground will be open until 12 p.m. Tuesday, October 12th, 2021. Dam East and Hazlet State Park Campgrounds are open year-round.
  • Carlyle Lake Tri Event and Temporary Road Closures

    CARLYLE LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Carlyle Lake, in partnership with MSE Racing, will host the Carlyle Lake Tri on Sunday, 19 September 2021. The triathlon will begin in the Dam West Day Use Area at 6:30 a.m. and will consist of three groups, Sprint, Olympic Distance, and Half Distance, competing in a timed swim, bike, and run course. The swim portion will take place on the south side of the Dam West Beach. The bike course will start at the Main Dam and will travel North on Clinton and Bond County roads. The route of the run course will take participants through the West Spillway, General Dean Recreation Area, East Spillway, across Saddle Dam II, and the Main Dam. While visiting Carlyle Lake during the triathlon, visitors are encouraged to take extra caution while driving in the areas of the triathlon course.

    CARLYLE LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is preparing for a fun and safe weekend celebrating Labor Day at Carlyle Lake. Whether you enjoy fishing, camping, boating, bike riding or other outdoor activities, Carlyle Lake offers an abundance of recreation opportunities. While participating in water related recreation activities, always wear your life jacket. Over two-thirds of people who drown never had any intention of being in the water.
