  • Lake Shelbyville Eco-Meet Results

    Lake Shelbyville – The 41st Annual Lake Shelbyville Eco-Meet, coordinated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers was held at Camp Camfield Ecological Study Area on October 12, 2017. The Eco-Meet is an environmental competition for school students that are in junior high and high school. Junior Varsity teams are comprised of four students from grades seven and eight. Varsity teams are made up of four high school students from grades nine through twelve. A total of 140 students from 35 schools competed in this year’s event.
  • Lake Shelbyville to host Pack the Park at Forest W. “Bo” Wood

    Camping season is finally upon us. To celebrate, Lake Shelbyville, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will provide free camping during Pack the Park at Forest W. “Bo” Wood Campground on May 11-13, 2017. Campsites will be available on a first come, first served basis Thursday through Saturday night. Paid camping will resume on Sunday, May 14.
  • High Water at Lake Shelbyville

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Shelbyville has reported high water conditions at the lake. The pool elevation has risen to 11.39 feet above normal summer pool (599.7 feet referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD). The level as of 7 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9 was 611.09 feet NVGD and the discharge rate was 1,900 cubic feet per second (cfs). Lake Shelbyville is expected to crest on Thursday, May 11, at 612.5 feet NGVD. This is based on the current discharge rate with no additional precipitation.
  • Lake Shelbyville and Carlyle Lake Prevent Major Flood Damage

    As of 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 5, 2017 the pool elevation at Carlyle Lake was 453.29 feet, referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD), with a release of approximately 5,000 cubic feet per second (cfs). The average inflow from May 1st through May 4th was 29,495 day second feet (dsf).

    Maj. Gen. Michael Wehr, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mississippi Valley Division commander, presented Okaw Valley School District with the 2016 Excellence in Partnership Award today, during a special ceremony at Okaw Valley High School.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Shelbyville is hosting a celebration for the grand opening of Woods Lake on Saturday, June 4, 2016. Many free activities planned for the occasion including a ribbon cutting ceremony, kids fishing tournament, National Wild Turkey Federation archery & BB gun stations, canoe paddling lessons, boat rides, and many other activities.

  • Chief of Engineers recognizes management at Corps’ Lake Shelbyville

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Chief of Engineers has recognized the team at Lake Shelbyville for the 2015 Natural Resources Management project of the year. Lt. Gen. Thomas Bostick, commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, acknowledged this project for their accomplishments in management efficiency, public involvement, public safety, management effectiveness, and partnerships as related to all elements of the Natural Resources Management program.
  • Lake Shelbyville is set to welcome holiday weekend visitors

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Shelbyville anticipates a very busy upcoming 4th of July holiday celebration. The Lake is open for all visitors to enjoy and should have plenty of water. As of June 29th, and with no additional rainfall, the lake is projected to crest on Monday, July 3, 2015 at 610.6 feet above sea level (referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD)). On June 29, at 7:00 a.m., the lake level was 609.59 feet above sea level NGVD, which is 9.89 feet above normal summer pool (599.7 feet above sea level NGVD).
