Marathon Pipe Line, LLC., seeks authorization, under Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act to conduct maintenance dredging operations at its’ Wood River Barge Dock facility in Madison County, Illinois. The area to be dredged is approximately 260 feet long and 30 feet wide and adjacent to the docking facility. The minimal amount of material will be removed to deepen the area, with maintenance occurring as necessary. Approximately 1,000 cubic yards of accumulated sediment material will be removed with a clamshell dredge perched atop a spud barge. The dredge material will be transferred to storage containers within the loading facility. Once dewatered, the dredged material will be transported via truck to an approved receiving facility in Illinois.
The project is located on the left descending bank of Mississippi River mile 196.3, Madison County, Illinois. Specifically, the project is located on the Wood River USGS quadrangle map, latitude 38:49:37.429, longitude -90:06:30.905.
