    Lake Shelbyville Youth Deer Hunt Applications Available Lake Shelbyville - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Shelbyville will hold the 10th Annual Youth Firearm Deer Hunt on October 12 and 13, 2019. To apply for the hunt, youth must be less than 18 years old on October 12, 2019 and be accompanied by an adult on the hunt. Applications must be received by 4:00 p.m. on September 6, 2019. Applications can be picked up at the Lake Shelbyville Project Office Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., or online at: www.tinyurl.com/LakeShelbyville-Hunting

    Lake Shelbyville DirtWorx Mountain Bike Fest Lake Shelbyville – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is partnering with the Lake Volunteers Association, Central Illinois Mountain Bike Association, General Dacey Trail Mountain Bike Club, and Bike and Hike Effingham to host the 2nd Annual DirtWorx MTB Fest on September 13-15, 2019.

    Aquafest at Dam West Beach Lake Shelbyville – Aquafest at Dam West Beach is no ordinary day at the beach! The event is scheduled for Saturday, August 3, 2019 from 12:00 to 4:00PM. Children and adults of all ages are welcome to attend. There will be no fee for using the beach and facilities the entire day. Activities include water safety carnival games, sand sculpture contest, inflatable water slide, and an appearance from Bobber the Water Safety Dog. All activities will be carnival and circus themed.     For Immediate Release: 17 July 2019 Release No.19-27 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Status of Dove Fields Lake Shelbyville - Due to the wet spring, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers was unable to plant sunflowers in time to hold its annual dove hunt. Approximately 10 acres of sunflowers were planted at South Sand Creek Dove Field almost a month later than usual and the flowers will not be mature by the September 1st opener. The Whitley Creek dove field was still too wet to plant when Sand Creek was planted, and it was decided to forego the planting of that field. Once the flowers at South Sand Creek are mature, strips will be mowed in them and blinds will be staked as usual. However, the blinds will be on a first come, first served basis and no managed hunt will be held.

    Lake Shelbyville Tree Stand Permits now available for the 2019-2020 Deer Season Lake Shelbyville Tree Stand Permits now available for the 2019-2020 Deer Season Lake Shelbyville – Lake Shelbyville's Tree Stand Policy for this year will remain the same as it was last season. The policy allows hunters to leave one stand up for the season (“Seasonal Tree Stand”) and/or utilize a “Roving” stand that can be left up for a period not to exceed a break in use greater than 72 hours – the length of a 3 day weekend. Seasonal tree stands may be placed 2 weeks prior to archery season and must be removed within 2 weeks of archery season ending. Archery season runs from October 1, 2016 - January 19, 2020. Hunters wishing to purchase a seasonal tree stand permit ($30.00) must present a valid hunting license before a permit will be issued. Seasonal and Roving tree stand permits may be obtained from the Lake Shelbyville Project Office Monday – Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and Bo Woods, Coon Creek, or Lithia Springs Fee Booths during operating hours. Roving tree stand permits, which are free of charge, may also be obtained in Sullivan, IL at Ace Hardware, Phillip’s 66 (formerly Howy’s Lakeside) Gas Station located five miles south of Sullivan, IL on Highway 32, and Chips's Marine. Hunters can also pick up Roving tree stand permits at ACE Hardware, Lithia Resort, Craig’s Sporting Goods, Kidd's Archery, or Yotes Archery Den which are located in or near Shelbyville. Hunters utilizing ladder stands are encouraged to purchase a Seasonal permit. A Roving permit is designed for the mobile hunter and requires the hunter to remove the stand from the woods if there is a break in use greater than 72 hours.

  • High Water Continues at Lake Shelbyville

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Shelbyville is reporting continued high water conditions at the lake. The pool elevation has risen to 10.32 feet above normal summer pool (599.7 feet referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD). The level on Tuesday, June 25 was 610.02 feet NVGD.  The discharge rate was 1750 cubic feet per second (cfs) and the inflow was 4170 cfs.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Shelbyville is reporting high water conditions at the lake. The pool elevation has risen to 6.39 feet above normal summer pool (599.7 feet referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD). The level as of 7 a.m. on Thursday, June 20 was 606.09 feet NVGD and rising.  The discharge rate was 750 cubic feet per second (cfs).
