    CARLYLE LAKE - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Carlyle Lake offers waterfowl hunting opportunities for sportsmen with disabilities. Two accessible waterfowl blinds will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis for the 2018-2019 Illinois South Central Zone Waterfowl Season. The first blind is located at the Saddle Dam III Wetland Complex area near the Hughes Road East entrance to Saddle Dam III. The second blind is located south of the Steins Field Parking Lot on Huey Road.

  • Main Dam Bridge Deck/General Dean Pedestrian Bridge Closure for Inspection

    CARLYLE LAKE – The Carlyle Lake Main Dam Bridge Deck and General Dean Pedestrian Bridge will be closed Monday, 20 August 2018 for routine inspections. Performing annual inspections ensures the integrity and increases the longevity of these structures. All work is scheduled to be completed by 4:00 p.m Monday, 20 August 2018.
  • Dove Hunt for Sportsmen with Disabilities

    CARLYLE LAKE – Disabled sportsmen can contact the Carlyle Lake Project Office to request access for participation in the handicapped-accessible dove hunt September 1-2, 2018. The hunt will be held among bountiful sunflowers at the Steins Field Access Area. Hunting hours are 12:00 p.m. till sunset.

  • Summer Hunting Opportunities at Carlyle Lake

    CARLYLE LAKE – Carlyle Lake offers a variety of late summer hunting opportunities. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources work together to manage public lands and waters at Carlyle Lake. More than 10,000 acres of public lands are open to public hunting to which all-current Illinois game laws and regulations are in effect. All hunters are required to sign in and out daily and record harvest at the nearest hunter sign in box. Access areas are conveniently located around the lake to provide parking and access to public lands. Several wildlife food plots have been planted around the lake. Plots consist of various crops including sunflowers, corn, and other row crops.
