  • Dam West Boat Ramp Closed Temporarily for (IHSA) Bass Fishing Finals

    CARLYLE LAKE - The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Bass Fishing Finals are being held at Carlyle Lake on Friday, May 31, 2013 and Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the Dam West Boat Ramp in the Dam West Day Use Area. In order to accommodate the tournament activities, the Dam West Boat Ramp will be closed to the general public from Monday, May 27th at 10:00 p.m. through Sunday, June 2nd at 12:00 p.m. Visitors should use the Apache Boat Ramp located in Eldon Hazlet State Park or the Dam East Boat Ramp and Keyesport Boat Ramp which will be available to the general public during this period.
  • Gateway Triathlon at Carlyle Lake

    CARLYLE LAKE – 1863 Events will be hosting a triathlon at Carlyle Lake on Sunday, May 19, 2013. The triathlon will begin in the Dam West Day Use Area at 8:00 a.m. and will consist of two groups, beginner and advanced, competing in a timed swim, run and bike course. The swim portion will take place on the south side of the main beach. The route of the run course will take participants across the main dam and saddle dam two to South Shore State Park. The bike course will start at the main dam and will travel North on Clinton and Bond County roads. While visiting Carlyle Lake during the triathlon, visitors are encouraged to take extra caution while driving in the areas of the triathlon course.
  • Carlyle Lake Pool Update

    CARLYLE LAKE – As of 9:00 a.m., Sunday, May 5, 2013, the pool elevation of Carlyle Lake is 452.98 feet NGVD with a release rate of approximately 10,000 cubic feet per second (cfs). Yesterday’s inflow was 16,430 dsf. The lake is predicted to crest on Wednesday, May 8th at less than 454.0 feet NGVD, barring additional precipitation. The target pool elevation is 445.0 feet NGVD.
  • Great Outdoors Scavenger Hunt at Carlyle Lake

    CARLYLE LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host a Great Outdoors Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the Carlyle Lake Visitor Center to commemorate National Park Trust’s (NPT) third annual National Kids to Parks Day. This event is open to children ages 5 to15. A parent or gaurdian will be required to accompany children who are between the ages of 5 and 10. Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by the scavenger hunt at 9:30 a.m. Participants will have an hour to complete the hunt. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers who find all the items on the scavenger hunt list. All participants will receive prizes. After the hunt, park rangers will present “Natures Treasures” an environmental program to educate participants about the natural items on their scavenger hunt list.

    As of 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 22, 2013, the pool elevation at Carlyle Lake was 450.42 feet, referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD), with a release of approximately 5,000 cubic feet of water per second (cfs). The inflow for Sunday, April 21, 2013 was approximately 24,610 day second feet (dsf).

    CARLYLE LAKE - As of 9:00 a.m. on Friday, April 19, 2013, the pool elevation at Carlyle Lake was 445.60 feet, referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD), with a release of approximately 4,930 cubic feet of water per second (cfs). The inflow for Thursday, April 18, 2013 was approximately 14,510 day second feet (dsf). Due to the previous rainfall, Carlyle Lake will crest on Monday, April 22, 2013 at 450.0 feet NGVD.
  • Camping Opportunities at Carlyle Lake in 2013

    Carlyle Lake – The 2013 camping season will begin with the opening of Dam West and McNair Campgrounds on April 1st. Boulder Campground will open on April 15th and the Coles Creek and Lotus Group area on May 1st. The Dam East Spillway Campground and the Eldon Hazlet State Park are open year-round.
