Hiking Trails
At Carlyle Lake there are several hiking trails maintained: Chipmunk Trail located in McNair Recreation Area, Little Prairie Nature Trial located in the Dam West Spillway, and Willow Pond, which is barrier free, located on the south side of the Visitor Center. There are also several miles of trails winding through ELDON HAZLET STATE PARK (IDNR).

Bike Trail
The Carlyle Lake Bike Trail is the perfect way to stay fit while enjoying the beauty of Carlyle Lake. The trail offers over sixty miles of federal, state, and county roads including a scenic view from atop the Carlyle Lake Dam and a trip through Southern Illinois Wetlands. A bike route map is available at the Carlyle Lake Project Office or at the Visitor Center.

Paddle Trail
Carlyle Lake is for paddlers! Experience over 45 miles of trails located at Carlyle Lake. These trails are abundant with scenic views and wildlife, and are safe areas for paddlers.
