    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the White House Council on Environmental Quality are hosting a public meeting Jan. 30, 2014, from 4 - 7 p.m. to discuss the Great Lakes and Mississippi River Interbasin Study (GLMRIS) Report that was submitted to Congress Jan. 6, 2014, and to allow for public comment. The report presents a range of options and technologies available to prevent the spread of aquatic nuisance species (ANS) between the Great Lakes and Mississippi River basins through aquatic connections.

  • Carlyle Lake Fishing Prospects Outstanding for 2014

    CARLYLE LAKE – With spring right around the corner, it is time to begin thinking about the big fish you’re going to catch this year at Carlyle Lake. Carlyle Lake provides a diverse and bountiful freshwater game fish population. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources Fisheries Division recently provided the results of the annual 2013 fall survey of Carlyle Lake and these results indicate that fishing prospects are outstanding for the upcoming season.

  • Bald Eagle Presentation to be held at Carlyle High School

    CARLYLE LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in cooperation with the Carlyle High School will be hosting a program presented by the World Bird Sanctuary. “All About Eagles” will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2014, beginning at 12:30 p.m. located in the Carlyle High School Gymnasium. The World Bird Sanctuary will have a live bald eagle to demonstrate the majestic flight and nature of this beautiful bird. After the presentation, eagle viewing will take place at the Carlyle Lake Main Dam and the General Dean Recreation Area. Maps of these locations will be available. Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars and dress accordingly for the weather.
