  • Duck blind drawing, Mobility impaired deer hunt at Wappapello Lake

    Wappapello Lake – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Wappapello Lake would like to announce two upcoming events. First, the annual duck blind drawing and registration will be held on August 16, 2014, at 1 p.m. in the multi-purpose room of the Bill Emerson Memorial Visitor Center. Secondly, in partnership with the Missouri Department of Conservation and the National Wild Turkey Federation, we are sponsoring a Mobility Impaired Modern Gun Deer Hunt on October 18 and 19, 2014. Applications are being accepted through August 29, 2014, and the drawing will be conducted on September 2, 2014.
  • Hands-on science fun on August 2, 2014

    Benton, IL- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Rend Lake invites you to attend this week’s Environmental Science Series program to be held in the Rend Lake Visitor Center on Saturday August 2nd . “Hands-on Science Fun” will be presented by The Science Center of Southern Illinois. Join us at 11:00 a.m. when we will be investigating volcanoes.
  • Summer Hunting Opportunities at Carlyle Lake

    CARLYLE LAKE – Carlyle Lake offers the outdoor sportsman a variety of late summer hunting opportunities. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources work together to manage the public lands and waters at Carlyle Lake. More than 10,000 acres of public lands are open to hunting to which all-current Illinois game laws and regulations are in effect. All hunters are also required to sign in and out daily and record harvest at the nearest hunter sign in box. Access areas are conveniently located around the lake to provide parking and access to public lands.
  • Weekend Activities at Carlyle Lake

    CARLYLE LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Carlyle Lake is preparing for a fun and safe weekend. Whether you enjoy fishing, camping, boating, bike riding or other outdoor activities, Carlyle Lake offers an abundance of recreation opportunities. While participating in water related recreation activities, always wear your life jacket. Over two-thirds of people who drown never had any intention of being in the water.
  • Aquafest to be held at Dam West Beach at Lake Shelbyville

    Lake Shelbyville – Aquafest at Dam West Beach is no ordinary day at the beach! The Lake Shelbyville, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be hosting Aquafest for Saturday, August 2 from noon to 4:00 p.m. Children and adults of ages all are welcome to attend.
  • Lake Shelbyville Tree Stand Permits now available for 2014-15 Deer Season

    Lake Shelbyville – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers would like to announce that the Lake Shelbyville Tree Stand Policy for this season are now available and will remain the same as it was last season. Seasonal and Roving tree stand permits may be obtained from the Lake Shelbyville Project Office Monday – Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and Bo Wood, Coon Creek or Lithia Springs Fee Booths during operating hours.
  • Turtles & Toads program to be held at Rend Lake July 26, 2014

    Benton, IL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Rend Lake cordially invites everyone to join us this Saturday, July 26th, at the Rend Lake Project Office/Visitor Center Multi-Purpose Room as we gather to get up close and personal with some native creatures of Southern Illinois.
  • The Corps of Engineers to remove geese from Lake Shelbyville to reduce health risk to visitors

    Lake Shelbyville – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is working closely with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and local communities to manage the health and safety risk that resident Canada geese pose to Lake Shelbyville’s visitors. A limited taking of resident Canada geese from Lake Shelbyville’s recreational areas has been scheduled for the week of July 14. The beaches will be closed to the public during that time.
  • Lake Shelbyville Dove Hunt application now available

    Lake Shelbyville - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Shelbyville will be conducting a dove hunt on opening day of dove season, September 1, 2014, at Wilborn Creek Dove Field. Permit applications can be picked up at the Lake Shelbyville Project Office Monday through Friday 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., or obtained online.
  • "Our Solar Sytem" program to be held at Rend Lake

    Benton, Il- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Rend Lake would like to extend a special invitation to join us Saturday, July 19th, at the Rend Lake Project Office/Visitor Center, as we view the night sky. This program will be presented by a Rend Lake College science instructor Greg Hollmann. The program will begin at 8:00 p.m. and will end at 10:00 p.m.
