  • Fall and Winter Camping Opportunities at Carlyle Lake

    Fall and winter is a wonderful time to go camping offering campers beautiful landscapes, solitude, inspiration, natural quiet, and a place to get away. Carlyle Lake offers two campgrounds that are open year around - Dam East Spillway Campground located in the Dam East Spillway Area and the IIini Campground located in Eldon Hazlet State Park
  • Regular dialogue with the navigation industry continues to keep commerce moving on the Mississippi River system

    Near constant communication between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the navigation industry and the U.S. Coast Guard is allowing commercial barge traffic to safely pass a restricted section of the lower Mississippi River (miles 632–635) near Fair Landing, Ark., and 30 miles south of Helena, Ark., with most delays less than 10 hours.
  • Lake Shelbyville Disabled Deer Hunt Volunteers Needed

    Lake Shelbyville- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Lake Volunteers Association at Lake Shelbyville will hold the 25th Annual Deer Hunt for People with Disabilities on November 21, 22 and 23, 2014. Volunteers are needed to help with the hunt.

    Lake Shelbyville – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host a meeting with the public to discuss the current Water Control Plan, the 2015 Water Control Operations and Dam Safety on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 6:00 p.m.
  • Temporary Area Closings during Deer Seasons at Rend Lake

    REND LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers would like to remind visitors that the some recreation areas will be closed to all vehicle and foot traffic during the first weekend of the 2014 firearm deer season, November 21-23, 2014. In addition, all sections of the Rend Lake Bike Trail, which are under the management of the Corps of Engineers, will be temporarily close to persons not actively involved in the sport of deer hunting. This closure will be in effect during all state firearm deer hunting seasons.
  • Lock and dam renamed to honor former Illinois congressman

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers St. Louis District hosted a ceremony here today to rename the Kaskaskia Lock and Dam in honor of former U.S. Congressman Jerry F. Costello.
