  • Carlyle Lake Increasing Downstream Releases

    CARLYLE LAKE - As of 1:00 p.m. on Monday, 22 March 2021, the pool elevation at Carlyle Lake was 448.17 feet, referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD). The current release rate is approximately 5,700 cubic feet per second (cfs). The inflow for Sunday, 21 March 2021 was approximately 15,330 day second feet (dsf). With current precipitation on the ground, Carlyle Lake is forecasted to crest at 449.00 feet NGVD on Wednesday, 24 March 2021. Releases will be increased to 10,000 cfs by Friday, 26 March 2021.
  • North Spillway, South Spillway, and Overlook will be closed on 23 - 24 March 2021

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announces the closure of the North Spillway, South Spillway, and Overlook from 3:00 p.m., March 23, 2021 through 7:00 A.M., March 25, 2021. This closure includes the shooting range, disk golf course, boat ramp, shelter houses, and bathrooms. Mark Twain Lake will be hosting the Air Force National Guard as they complete a COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic to provide vaccinations to approximately 2,000 participants. This is not an open event, all participants receiving the vaccination have a standing appointment with a scheduled time slot.
  • Expect Higher Lake Elevation for Mark Twain Lake

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is expecting higher lake elevations throughout the month of March. Currently, the Mark Twain Lake water elevation is at 609.79, and is expected to crest at 612.40 on March 29, 2021.  This projection does include the forecasted precipitation and the generation schedule. We ask that you stay aware while on the lake, avoid areas you may see with large amounts of debris, and wear a life jacket while on the water.
  • Temporary Closure Of The South Fork Recreation Area

    The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers announces that the South Fork Recreation Area will be closed to public use beginning March 22, 2021. The area will be closed for approximately two weeks to accommodate public safety.  The boat ramp will be utilized as a staging area to mobilize and assemble transport and work barge units, and to stage heavy equipment in preparation of erosion work and protection that will be occurring in proximity to the South Fork Recreation Area. When mobilization is completed, and the boat ramp is no longer needed to stage equipment, the area will re-open for public use.
  • Mark Twain Lake Campgrounds Open Soon

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Mark Twain Lake has announced campgrounds will begin opening on April 2. All sites are reservable and you will need a reservation prior to setting up on a site. You can make reservations at www.recreation.gov or by calling 877-444-677. The phased opening schedule for the 2021 camping season can be found below.
  • Applications Available for Lake Shelbyville Deer Hunt for People with Disabilities

    Lake Shelbyville – The 31st Annual Deer Hunt for People with Disabilities, hosted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Wolf Creek State Park will be held November 19 through November 21, 2021.
