  • South Fork Recreation Area Open for Public Use

    Mark Twain Lake, April 30, 2021 - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Mark Twain Lake encourages visitors using the South Fork Recreation Area to use caution when traveling in the area, as heavy equipment operation and material hauling will be occurring along the primary access road within the area. Visitors should expect minor periodic delays due to required traffic controls for public safety purposes. 
  • Mark Twain Lake Fee's Suspended

    Mark Twain Lake, April 23, 2021 –  The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Mark Twain Lake is suspending the collection of fees at all boat launching ramps, the John Spalding swimming beach, and the David C. Berti shooting range until further notice. Annual boat ramp passes also will not be issued at this time.
  • Cape Girardeau Flood Wall Completion Project

    The Saint Louis District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and City of Cape Girardeau will celebrate the completion of nearly $20 million and 15 years of river wall improvement projects in beautiful downtown Cape Girardeau, April 14 at 11 a.m. The work ensures that generations of residents and businesses in the regional hub can enjoy riverfront life safe from increasingly frequent flooding.
  • Loop Lake Shelbyville Bike Ride

    Lake Shelbyville - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Friends of Lake Shelbyville are excited to be hosting the Loop Lake Shelbyville bike ride on Saturday, June 12th, 2021. The event was cancelled last year due to COVID-19, therefore dust off your bicycles and join us for a fun ride! All rides will start from the Lake Shelbyville Visitor and will include options for a 22 mile, 34 mile, 48 mile or a 65 mile ride. Proceeds for the ride will benefit the Friends of Lake Shelbyville (FOLS). The FOLS provides education, historical interpretation, recreational and environmental improvements at Lake Shelbyville.
  • Boulder Road Bridge Closure

    Boulder Road will be closed at the bridge over Gibbs Creek between Lake Villa Road and Nut Road,
  • Carlyle Lake Dam East Boat Ramp Closure

    CARLYLE LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Carlyle Lake Project will temporarily close the Dam East Boat Ramp to the public beginning the evening of Thursday, April 8 through Sunday, April 11, 2021. The closure is necessary for the 739th Engineer Company to conduct military training exercises associated with launching, catching, and retrieving Interior Bays on the water with approximately 30 to 40 soldiers participating.
  • North Spillway, South Spillway, and Overlook will be closed on 13 -15 April 2021

    Mark Twain Lake, April 5, 2021 - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announces the closure of the North Spillway, South Spillway, and Overlook from 3:00 P.M, April 13, 2021 through 7:00 AM., April 15, 2021. This closure includes the shooting range, disk golf course, boat ramp, shelter houses, and bathrooms. Mark Twain Lake will be hosting the Air Force National Guard as they complete a COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic to provide vaccinations to approximately 1,200 participants. This is not an open event, all participants receiving the vaccination have a standing appointment with a scheduled time slot.
  • Entire Group Camp Reservations And Picnic Shelter Reservations Now Available Online

    Mark Twain Lake, April 2, 2021 - The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers announces group use areas/shelter reservations will now be available online. The Group Campgrounds will be reservable at one standard fee and all picnic shelters will now be available by calling 877-444-6777 or by visiting Recreation.gov. Below you can find a schedule and reservation policy for the affected areas:  Group Camp Reservations: Can be made twelve months in advance. Briscoe Group Campground is $100.00 per night. Indian Creek Group Campground is $125.00 per night. Group Campgrounds will open the third Friday of May and close on the last Monday of October.  Shelter Reservations: Can be made twelve months in advance. The fee for a shelter house is $30.00. Reservations can be made year-round. Reservations must be made at least one week in advance.
