  • Waterfowl Hunting Opportunities for Sportsmen with Disabilities

    CARLYLE LAKE - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers would like to announce waterfowl hunting opportunities for sportsmen with disabilities at Carlyle Lake. Two accessible waterfowl blinds will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis for the Illinois 2015-2016 South Central Zone Waterfowl Season. The first blind is located at the Saddle Dam III Wetland Complex area near the Hughes Road entrance to Saddle Dam III. The second blind is located in the recently constructed Steins Field Wetland Unit on the east side of South Shore State Park.

Carlyle Lake offers opportunities at several campgrounds that stay open for fall camping. Dam West and McNair Campgrounds will be open through 4 p.m. Sunday, November 1st, Boulder and Coles Creek Campgrounds will be open through 4 p.m. Thursday, October 15th, and Dam East and Hazlet State Park Campgrounds are open year round.
