    CARLYLE LAKE - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Carlyle Lake is looking for volunteers to assist with the annual spring Christmas tree recycling/fish habitat improvement project being held Saturday, March 14, 2015.
  • Warren G. See Spillway Recreation Areas Closed at Mark Twain Lake

    The Warren G. See South Spillway Recreation Area has been closed for visitor safety by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers until further notice. At this time, the continuing inclement weather has produced unsafe, icy roadway conditions making entry to the area hazardous. This closure impacts both the David C. Berti Shooting Range and the boat ramp in the recreation area.   • Kaskaskia Watershed Association to hold Annual Summit

    The Kaskaskia Watershed Association, Inc. (KWA) will hold the Annual Summit on Monday, March 9, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Mariner’s Village Conference Center, 1 Resort Drive, Carlyle, Illinois. This year’s theme “New Opportunities Built on Past Successes,” will focus on new projects and past successes in the Kaskaskia River and the Kaskaskia Watershed.
  • Eagle Watch Event at Carlyle Lake

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in partnership with the Case-Halstead Library in Carlyle, IL will be hosting an Eagle Watch on Saturday, February 14, 2015, from 9 a.m. to 1p.m at the library. At 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., the World Bird Sanctuary will present “All About Eagles” and will bring a live bald eagle to demonstrate the majestic flight and nature of this beautiful bird.
  • Eagle Day at Lake Shelbyville

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is hosting the 4th Annual Eagle Day event on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the Lake Shelbyville Visitor Center. Treat your valentine to a free show celebrating our national symbol and other birds of prey!
  • National Great Rivers Museum Closure

    The National Great Rivers Museum, operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, will be closed on January 27, 2015 due to a planned electrical outage. The facility is having electrical smart meters installed to help improve and monitor its energy efficiency. During this time, visitors are encouraged to visit the Audubon Center at Riverlands for winter bird viewing and regional visitor information.
