    September 23, 2021, Mark Twain Lake - The David C. Berti Shooting Range located in the Warren G. See South Spillway Recreation Area at Mark Twain Lake will be closed from on Monday, September 27, 2021 for visitor and maintenance staff safety while sidewalk upgrades are performed at the range. Please follow all posted construction signs, keep out signs and other safety signs.     September 13, 2021, Mark Twain Lake – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Mark Twain Lake is excited to announce we will be holding the Halloween Walk event this year at the Indian Creek Campground! To provide as safe an event as possible, there have been some changes due to Covid -19. These changes are as follows:
  • David C Berti Shooting Range Closed for Maintenance

    September 13, 2021, Mark Twain Lake – The David C. Berti Shooting Range located in the Warren G. See South Spillway Recreation Area at Mark Twain Lake will be closed from 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. on September 16 and 17, 2021 for visitor and maintenance staff safety while work is performed at the range. There will also be future short-term closures for additional site maintenance and sidewalk upgrades. Please follow all posted construction signs, keep out signs and other safety signs.   • Mark Twain Lake Trail Update

    Mark Twain Lake, August 27, 2021 – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Mark Twain Lake announces two multi-use trails have reopened after the extended high water and storm damage, however, visitors may still encounter downed limbs and experience short detours. The Lick Creek and Joanna Trail provide hikers, mountain bikers, equestrian riders, backpack campers, birders and hunters many miles of natural enjoyment. Both trails meander through several habitat types including upland hardwood, open fields, bottomlands and limestone bluffs.
  • Frank Russell Campground Adjusts Reservation Period for Flint Ridge Loop

    Mark Twain Lake, August 6, 2021 – The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers announces that Frank Russell campsites 30 through 48 (in Flint Ridge Loop) will be available for reservations until September 8, 2021. The remaining Flint Ridge sites 49 through 60 will be open until November 1, 2021. Joanna and Clear View Loops close on September 27, 2021.   • Mark Twain Lake High Water Update

    Mark Twain Lake, August 5, 2021 – UPDATE - The Mark Twain Lake level on Thursday, August 5, 2021 is 619.2 NGVD. Normal lake elevation is 606.0 NGVD. All four lane boat ramps are open with courtesy docks in at Robert Allen, South Fork, Stoutsville and Spalding. Ray Behrens boat ramp is open, however it does not have a courtesy dock in place. You will likely find floating and submerged debris on the lake so please be cautious and always wear a life jacket.
  • News Release 21-38 Short-term Closure Announced for South Fork Recreation Area

    Mark Twain Lake, July 26, 2021 – The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers announces that the South Fork Recreation Area will be closed to public use beginning on August 9 and extending to August 20. The purpose of the closure is to accommodate pavement repair in the recreation area. When the work is completed, the area will be opened for public use. Multiple ramps around the lake are open for your use.
  • Ray Behrens/Frank Russell Campgrounds Will Re-Open July 26, 2021

    Mark Twain Lake, July 23, 2021 – Storm debris removal has been completed in the Ray Behrens and Frank Russell Campgrounds. The Campgrounds will re-open on July 26, 2021 at 5:00 P.M. Reservations will be available for the Ray Behrens, Frank Russell, and Indian Creek Campground starting on July 26. The Ray Behrens and Frank Russell Campgrounds accumulated large wood debris piles inside of the recreation areas. The wood debris piles continue to smolder but the majority of each pile has been burned. Mark Twain Lake Staff will allow the areas to burn off over the weekend and extinguish the fires on Monday, July 26. We ask that everyone avoid the debris piles. Other areas re-opening on Monday, July 26:
  • All Mark Twain Lake Corps Campgrounds at Mark Twain Lake Placed on Hold

    Mark Twain Lake, July 13, 2021 – The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers announces the Frank Russell, Ray Behrens and Indian Creek Campgrounds will be unavailable for any future reservations July 19, 2021 through September 13, 2021. Currently, the Ray Behrens and Frank Russell Campgrounds are closed from July 11, 2021, through July 18, 2021 for damage repairs caused by the July 9 storms. The Indian Creek Campground was also impacted but crews were able to make repairs to keep the area open. Available Indian Creek camping spots are currently being used to accommodate the displaced campers from the Ray Behrens and Frank Russell areas.
  • Hazardous Tree Cleanup in Ray Behrens/Frank Russell Campgrounds

    Mark Twain Lake, July 12, 2021 – Due to the storms that took place over the weekend of July 9, 2021, the Ray Behrens and Frank Russell Campgrounds will be burning large amounts of wood debris throughout the week of July 12, 2021. This may possibly extend into the next few weeks. The Frank Russell Campground, Ray Behrens Campground, Warren G. See South Spillway, M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center, Spalding Day Use, Bluffview Recreation Area, and H/F 70 have been closed off to all vehicle traffic. Pedestrian foot traffic will not be allowed inside any of these closed recreation areas.
