  • Summer Hunting Opportunities at Carlyle Lake

    CARLYLE LAKE – Carlyle Lake offers the outdoor sportsman a variety of late summer hunting opportunities. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources work together to manage the public lands and waters at Carlyle Lake. More than 10,000 acres of public lands are open to hunting to which all-current Illinois game laws and regulations are in effect. All hunters are also required to sign in and out daily and record harvest at the nearest hunter sign in box. Access areas are conveniently located around the lake to provide parking and access to public lands.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Carlyle Lake is preparing for a fun and safe weekend celebrating Independence Day at Carlyle Lake. Family oriented activities will be taking place throughout the weekend; all activities are free and open to the public. The highlight of the weekend activities will be the Fireworks Spectacular from point one at dusk on Saturday, June 28th.

  • “Reeling in the Fish” Kids Fishing Tournament and Get Outdoor Days

    CARLYLE LAKE - In recognition of Illinois’ Free Fishing Days June 6th - June 9th and National Get Outdoors Days, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in partnership with Henkel’s Hook and Arrow will be hosting a “Reeling in the Fish” kid’s fishing tournament. The tournament will be held on Saturday, June 7th at the City of Carlyle Fish Hatchery Pond located on Illinois Route 50, one mile east of Carlyle. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. The tournament will run from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. giving participant’s an hour and a half of fishing time. Trophies will be awarded for total weight in two age categories, ten and under and eleven to fifteen. First, second and third place trophies will be awarded in both categories.
