The public is invited to attend these workshops which will provide information on the Master Plan update process and afford the opportunity to receive input from the public about their issues and concerns regarding the future management of Carlyle Lake and the Kaskaskia River Project.

    CARLYLE LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today that it will waive day use fees for veterans, active and reserve component service members, and their families at the more than 2,800 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide on Veterans Day, November 11.
  • Waterfowl Hunting Opportunities for Sportsmen with Disabilities

    CARLYLE LAKE - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers would like to announce waterfowl hunting opportunities for sportsmen with disabilities at Carlyle Lake. Two accessible waterfowl blinds will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis for the Illinois 2015-2016 South Central Zone Waterfowl Season. The first blind is located at the Saddle Dam III Wetland Complex area near the Hughes Road entrance to Saddle Dam III. The second blind is located in the recently constructed Steins Field Wetland Unit on the east side of South Shore State Park.
  • Fall Opportunities at Carlyle Lake

    CARLYLE LAKE – Fall is a beautiful time for camping! Enjoy the cool fall temperatures with family and friends while roasting hot dogs and marshmallows over a crackling campfire. Carlyle Lake offers opportunities at several campgrounds that stay open for fall camping. Dam West and McNair Campgrounds will be open through 4 p.m. Sunday, November 1st, Boulder and Coles Creek Campgrounds will be open through 4 p.m. Thursday, October 15th, and Dam East and Hazlet State Park Campgrounds are open year round.
  • Dam West Boat Ramp Accessible Boat Loading Platform

    CARLYLE LAKE – The Carlyle Lake Project will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for a newly constructed accessible boat loading platform on Wednesday, October 28, 2015. The ceremony will begin at 2:00 p.m., and will take place at the Dam West Boat Ramp adjacent to the high water ramp.
  • Coles Creek Camping Season Extended Two Weeks

    CARLYLE LAKE – Campers at Carlyle Lake will now have an opportunity to camp for an additional two weeks at Coles Creek Campground. Based on past trends of declining use following Labor Day, the regular season was scheduled to end on September 30, 2015. However, due to high demand, campers now have an opportunity to take advantage of the fall weather and extend their camping experience until October 15, 2015. This season’s extension will be used as a trial period to determine if longer seasons at Coles Creek will be feasible in the future. Factors such as utilization and operational costs will be assessed when making the determination.
  • Blood Drive Donors to Receive Free Camping

    The American Red Cross in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be hosting a blood drive on Thursday, September 17th at the Carlyle Lake Visitor Center from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The American Red Cross works diligently every day to keep an adequate supply of blood available. The need for blood is ongoing—24 hours a day, 365 days a year. In the United States a blood transfusion is needed every two seconds. The American Red Cross encourages eligible donors to give the gift of life to help meet the demand.

    CARLYLE LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Carlyle Lake is preparing for a fun and safe weekend celebrating Labor Day at Carlyle Lake. Family oriented activities will be taking place throughout the weekend; all activities are free and open to the public. The highlight of the weekend activities will be the Fireworks Spectacular from point one at dusk on Saturday, September 5th.

Whether you enjoy fishing, camping, boating, bike riding or other outdoor activities, Carlyle Lake offers an abundance of recreation opportunities. While participating in water related recreation activities, always wear your life jacket. Over two-thirds of people who drown never had any intention of being in the water.
