  • Dam West Boat Ramp Closed Temporarily for (IHSA) Bass Fishing Finals

    CARLYLE LAKE - The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) State Bass Fishing Finals are being held at Carlyle Lake on Friday May 20th and Saturday May 21st at the Dam West Boat Ramp in the Dam West Day Use Area. In order to accommodate the tournament activities, the Dam West Boat Ramp will be closed from Monday, May 16th at 10:00 p.m. through Saturday, May 21st at 5:00 p.m. Visitors should use Allen Branch and Apache Boat Ramps located in Eldon Hazlet State Park or the Dam East Boat Ramp and Keyesport Boat Ramp which will be available to the general public during this period.
  • Gateway Triathlon at Carlyle Lake

    CARLYLE LAKE – 3 Disciplines Racing will be hosting the Gateway Triathlon at Carlyle Lake on Sunday, May 15, 2016. The triathlon will begin in the Dam West Day Use Area at 8:00 a.m. and will consist of two groups, beginner and advanced, competing in a timed swim, run and bike course. The swim portion will take place on the south side of the main beach. The route of the run course will take participants East across the Main Dam and Saddle Dam II. The bike course will start at the Main Dam and will travel North on Clinton and Bond County roads. While visiting Carlyle Lake during the triathlon, visitors are encouraged to take extra caution while driving in the areas of the triathlon course.
  • Carlyle Lake Facilities Open

    CARLYLE LAKE – All Corps of Engineers managed recreation areas and facilities at Carlyle Lake will remain open for the 2016 recreation season. Due to erroneous media reports pertaining to the closure of parks, the Carlyle Lake Project Office has received numerous calls from the public concerning this matter.
  • Summer Employment Internship Position at Carlyle Lake

    CARLYLE LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) at the Carlyle Lake/ Kaskaskia River Project is currently seeking someone who is interested in a Student Conservation Association (SCA) Public Safety Internship position for summer employment. SCA is a non-profit organization whose mission is to build the next generation of conservation leaders and inspire lifelong stewardship of our environment and communities by engaging young people in hands-on service to the land. The SCA Public Safety Intern will work under the supervision of USACE park rangers as they work together to encourage public safety to those who are recreating on USACE-managed public lands and waters.

Carlyle Lake offers a great work experience opportunity for students who plan to make a career in the biological sciences, outdoor recreation, or the law enforcement field.
  • Carlyle Lake Christmas Tree Recycling Program

    CARLYLE LAKE - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Carlyle Lake is looking for volunteers to assist with the annual spring Christmas tree recycling/fish habitat improvement project being held Saturday, March 12, 2016.
  • Eagle Watch Event at Carlyle Lake

    CARLYLE LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in partnership with the Case-Halstead Library in Carlyle, IL will be hosting an Eagle Watch on Saturday, February 13, 2016, from 9 a.m. to 1p.m at the library. At 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., the World Bird Sanctuary will present “All About Eagles” and will bring a live bald eagle to demonstrate the majestic flight and nature of this beautiful bird. Everyone attending the event will have the opportunity to listen to a story about bald eagles, make crafts, and observe replicas of a bald eagle skull, egg, talons and feathers to get a better understanding of the bird. Participants can also pick up a map at the library during the event and drive to various viewing locations at the lake. Park Rangers will be at these locations with spotting scopes to assist and answer questions. Everyone is encouraged to bring binoculars and dress accordingly for the weather.
