Rend Lake's beach, located in the South Sandusky Day Use area, invites water recreationists of all ages. South Sandusky Beach is located on the west side of the lake, just off Rend City Road. New - the former North Marcum Beach is no longer a designated beach area. Instead it is a Boat-in Rest Area. Alcohol and pets are allowed in the North Marcum Boat-in Rest area. Pets must be restrained on a leash no longer than 6 feet in length.
The Rend Lake Marina is located on Rend City Road with fishing and pontoon boat rental. Boat repair services, slip rentals, winter boat storage, bait, and boat and personal watercraft sales and supplies are available. Call the Marina at (618) 724-7651 for more information. Ten picnic shelters, located around Rend Lake provide the perfect setting for family reunions, company picnics, graduation parties, etc. Shelters located in Corps of Engineers managed areas are available in advance through ReserveUSA's toll-free number for a fee of $25.00. Shelters that have not been reserved are available free of charge, on a first-come, first-served basis
Several trails at Rend Lake provide visitors an opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of the area.
Rend Lake Bike Trail:
A copy of the Rend Lake Bike Trail Map can be printed from our home page or picked up at the Rend Lake Project Office or Visitor Center.
Blackberry Nature Trail:
This 3/4 mile self-guided trail is located along the Rend City Road between the entrance to the South Sandusky Beach and the South Sandusky Campground . Click here for a brochure
Wayne Fitzgerrell State Park Trail:
A one-mile trail through a scenic woodland, this trail begins at the picnic area at the state park.
The Rend Lake Visitor Center, located at the east end of the Main Dam Road, is a great place to begin your visit to Rend Lake and learn about the exciting recreational opportunities available in the area. A a variety of exhibits invite you to learn more about the flora and fauna that inhabit the Rend Lake area. Aquariums showcase Rend Lake fish species and stream critters. Live snakes of the Rend Lake area are also featured. A demonstration wetland and wildlife garden are outdoor features of the Visitor Center. Be sure to check out the demonstration bee hive to get a close-up look at how nature's honey makers operate.
