  • Beach Blast at Rend Lake, June 13

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Rend Lake is hosting the annual Rend Lake Beach Blast Saturday, June 13, at the South Sandusky Beach. Rend Lake Park Rangers will host this fun-filled event that includes games for all ages, music, and learning how to be safe while in and around the water. This popular event will kick off at noon and will run until 4:00 p.m.

    Lake Shelbyville – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites area residents and their canine pets to join them on Saturday, July 5, 2014 for the Dog Days of Summer Dog Show. This is 20th annual Lake Shelbyville Dog Show and it is sure to be a dog-gone good time.
  • Birds of prey program to be held at Rend Lake

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Rend Lake will be hosting the eighth program in the ongoing Environmental Science Series of Programs. “Birds of Prey,” presented by Bev Shofstall from the Free Again Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2014, at the Rend Lake Project Office and Visitor Center. Visitors will have the opportunity to see a bald eagle, a red-tailed hawk, a turkey vulture, and a kestrel up close as Bev shows some of the fascinating birds of prey that reside at the center. There will be 2 programs; the first will begin at 11 a.m. and the second at 2 p.m.
  • Lake Shelbyville Quilt Show

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Shelbyville will be hosting a Quilt Show from Tuesday, July 8 to Sunday, July 13 at the Lake Shelbyville Visitor Center during normal hours of operation. As a reminder, the Visitor Center is open Sunday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • 36th Annual Old Greenville Black Powder Rendezvous This Weekend at Wappapello Lake

    All roads in southeast Missouri will lead to the Greenville Recreation Area at Wappapello Lake on April 12 and 13, 2014, for the 36th Annual Old Greenville Black Powder Rendezvous. This event is the longest consecutive rendezvous in the state of Missouri. Many families have made this event a tradition. There will be something for all ages to do. Check out the traders, food, old-time children’s games, and primitive lodges. Watch or participate in the competitive activities such as black powder shooting, hawk and knife throwing, bow shooting, and fire starting. Adult entry fee for those in primitive attire is $10. For those in modern dress it is $12. Teenage division (13-17 years old) fee is $5 and will shoot with adults. Youth division ages 12 and under shoots for free with adult supervision. Women may compete in Women’s Division or Open Division. Event hours are 9 a.m. to dark on Saturday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free to the public.
