  • Update: Recreation Lockage at Costello Lock and Dam

    The Jerry F. Costello Lock and Dam no longer requires an altered schedule for recreational lockages. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation during the dry summer months but increasing amounts of rainfall have finally returned things back to normal conditions.   The lower boat ramp at the Lock remains closed until the Mississippi River level at the Chester, IL river gauge reaches 10 feet.
  • The Mississippi River Commission will host two public hearings next week

    The Mississippi River Commission will host two public hearings in St. Louis and Cape Girardeau onboard the Motor Vessel Mississippi as part of their low-water inspection trip. The meetings will be held August 17 at the St. Louis Riverfront and August 18 at the Cape Girardeau Riverfront in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Both begin at 9 a.m.
  • Melvin Price Locks and Dam main lock temporarily closured

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District, closed the 1200-foot main chamber at Melvin Price Locks and Dam in Alton, Illinois yesterday to all commercial and recreational traffic after a crack was discovered on one of the lock chamber's lift gates during an inspection after an allision. At this time personnel are working on the repair, which is currently estimated to be complete on Saturday, August 5. All interested parties will be notified if this estimated date changes based on conditions encountered that would affect the closure period.
