Whether you enjoy fishing, camping, boating, bike riding or other outdoor activities, Carlyle Lake offers an abundance of recreation opportunities. While participating in any outdoor activities, please keep safety in mind.
  • Corps of Engineers, Belleville, partner on sewer rehabilitation project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District, and Belleville, Illinois, recently entered into a cost-shared Project Partner Agreement, or PPA, for rehabilitation of the East Creek Sewer Separation Project. The project will involve separation of combined sewers as well as construction of a new storm water collection system and expansion of existing storm water detention and pumping facilities. These improvements would not only benefit residences in the project area by reducing sewer backups, but it would also greatly reduce the amount of wastewater the city is required to treat extending the operable life of the wastewater treatment facility.

  • Dam West Boat Ramp Closure for IHSA State Bass Fishing Finals

    CARLYLE LAKE - The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) State Bass Fishing Finals will be held at Carlyle Lake Friday, May 20, 2022 – Saturday, May 21, 2022, at the Dam West Boat Ramp. To accommodate tournament activities, the Dam West Boat Ramp will temporarily close to the public beginning the morning of Wednesday, May 18 through Saturday, May 21, 2022. During this period, Allen Branch and Apache Boat Ramps located in Eldon Hazlet State Park or the Dam East Boat Ramp and Keyesport Boat Ramp will be available to the general public.
  • Reservations for the Annual Halloween Walk

    News Release 22-19, Mark Twain Lake May 10, 2022 – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Mark Twain Lake is excited to announce the annual Halloween Walk will be held Friday, October 21 and Saturday, October 22, 2022, in the Indian Creek Campground. Camping reservations for camping participants, campsites 66-177, will open on June 1, 2022, at 9:00 A.M. CST. You must decorate your site to camp in the event area. Please remember this is a family-friendly event, so plan your decorating ideas accordingly. Gates to campsites 96-177 will be closed to pedestrian traffic during the event. All other areas will be open for vehicular traffic. If you have any questions, please call us prior to reserving a campsite.
  • Upper Mississippi River System Hydraulic Model Update Complete

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island, St. Paul and St. Louis Districts recently completed a seven-year effort to develop an updated, standardized hydraulic model for the Upper Mississippi River System, including the Illinois Waterway. The model can be used to evaluate and communicate the effects of floodplain modifications to provide better predictability and more consistent flood risk management for the Upper Mississippi River System.

  • Rend Lake Dam Road Closed for Routine Inspection

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Rend Lake will close the Rend Lake Dam Road to all through traffic from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2022. Access to the South Marcum Recreation Area, Spillway Recreation Area, and the Dedication Lot on the east end of the Rend Lake Dam will remain open. Watch for closure signs at Sugar Creek parking lot and the west entrance to the Rend Lake Dam.
  • Temporary Closure of Maple Island and Low Water Access Area

    The US Army Corps of Engineers, Rivers Project Office, will temporarily close Maple Island in West Alton, MO as well as Low Water Access Area on Chouteau Island, Illinois to all vehicles, pedestrians and fishermen due to high water. These project areas will re-open when water levels recede at a date that is yet undetermined. Further information will be made available when these areas are again accessible for recreation.
  • Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary to Host Walk for Wildlife 5K Benefitting Local Wildlife

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rivers Project Office, is partnering with the Audubon Center at Riverlands and TreeHouse Wildlife Rehabilitation Center to host the second annual Walk for Wildlife event on Saturday, May 14 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. This fun-run style walk will benefit the TreeHouse Wildlife Center during the peak spring baby season while also supporting the conservation education team at the Audubon Center at Riverlands.
