  • Blood Drive Donors to Receive Free Camping

    Carlyle Lake – The American Red Cross in cooperation with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be hosting a blood drive on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at the Carlyle Lake Visitor Center from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The American Red Cross works diligently every day to keep an adequate supply of blood, especially in preparation for the summer recreation months when donations are needed. In the U.S. today, a blood transfusion is needed every two seconds. The need for blood is ongoing—24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The American Red Cross encourages eligible donors to give the gift of life to help meet the demand.

    CARLYLE LAKE – On Friday, September 13, 2013, the Corps of Engineers and Lower Kaskaskia Stakeholders Incorporated (LKSI) will be hosting a dedication ceremony for the Kaskaskia and Mississippi Rivers Confluence Heritage Area. Lower Kaskaskia Stakeholders Inc. (LKSI) President Ryan Ford and Lieutenant Colonel Aaron Wolf, Deputy Commander of the St. Louis District Corps of Engineers will speak at the event. The dedication will take place at the Confluence Heritage Area (located at the Kaskaskia River Project) at 2:00 p.m. and last approximately 60 minutes.
