  • Frank Russell Campgrounds Upgrades for the 2022 Camping Season

    Mark Twain Lake, March 18, 2022 – The Frank Russell Campground will be undergoing 56 full-service campsite upgrades. Campsites 1-60 within the Frank Russell Recreation Area will be closed for the 2022 camping season and will undergo water and sewer upgrades. The Equestrian campsites 61-67, Frank Russell Pond, Joanna Trail access, and Frank Russell Archery Park will remain open. Access into the Joanna, Clear View, and Flint Ridge loops will not be permitted as this will be an active construction site.
  • Mark Twain Lake Campgrounds Open Soon

    Mark Twain Lake – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Mark Twain Lake has announced the opening date for campgrounds is April 1, 2022.  All sites are reservable and you will need a reservation prior to setting up on a site.  You can make reservations at www.recreation.gov  or by calling 877-444-6777. Additional campground loop opening/closing dates are listed below.
  • Mark Twain Lake Fee Collection Stations

    Mark Twain Lake, March 16, 2022 – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is announcing the installation of new automated fee collection machines at the following recreation areas:  M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center, David C. Berti Shooting Range, Ray Behrens, Robert Allen, South Fork, Stoutsville, Indian Creek, Spalding Beach/Day Use, and Spalding Boat Ramp.
  • Environmental Science Series Programs Return to the Rend Lake Visitor Center

    After two years of limited public programming due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Rend Lake is excited to celebrate Rend Lake’s 50th Anniversary with a full year of programming. The Environmental Science Series begins May 28, 2022. These programs will be held every Saturday from May 28th to September 3rd in the Rend Lake Visitor Center.

  • Rescheduled Kaskaskia Eagle Fest

    The rescheduled 2022 Eagle Fest event will be held on Saturday, March 12th from 9am – 3pm at the Jerry F. Costello Lock & Dam in Modoc, Ill. (4800 Lock and Dam Road).  All vendors were able to join us for the new date, so it is sure to be a great day to get out and enjoy!
  • 150th Anniversary celebration of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers St. Louis District to kick off at the National Great Rivers Museum

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) St. Louis District will commence celebrating their 150th Anniversary at the National Great Rivers Museum in Alton, IL, Tuesday, from 11:30 till 12:00.  Lt. Col. Jason Sears, Deputy Commander, USACE St. Louis District and Michael R. Morrow, Mayor of Grafton, IL will sign a proclamation in appreciation of the District’s history, partnerships and contributions to the region.   
  • Mark Twain Lake Recreation Areas Reopen After Weather Event

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) recreation areas, including boat ramps, day use areas, hunter fishermen access areas, firewood cutting areas, David C. Berti shooting range, Frank Russell archery park, M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center, Project Office and other facilities that are normally open this time of year have reopened as the recent snow is being cleared. Use caution in areas where snow is still present.
  • Weather Related Closures at Mark Twain Lake

    In an effort to protect visitors and employees from impending freezing rain and snow, all U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) recreation areas, including boat ramps, day use areas, hunter fishermen access areas, firewood cutting areas, David C. Berti shooting range, Frank Russell archery park, M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center and Project Office at Mark Twain Lake will be closed during the expected weather event.
