  • “Masters of the Sky”: Eagles, Falcons, and Hawks Oh My!

    The National Great Rivers Museum along with the Meeting of the Rivers Foundation announces the return of the “Masters of the Sky” show, presented by the World Bird Sanctuary, February 15, 16, and 17, 2014, at the National Great Rivers Museum.
  • Scouting for Eagles! - Cub Scout Eagle Day

    The National Great Rivers Museum invites cub scouts to experience bald eagles like never before on Saturday, January 18th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.! Get your pack together to witness live Bald Eagles in action. Your group will explore the behavior and habits of these famous creatures, discover the adaptations that help them survive in the wild, and meet with a live Eagle from the World Bird Sanctuary. They will learn about the nesting habits and migration paths of these majestic birds of prey. Boys will experience a bird’s eye view of the eagles from atop Melvin Price Locks and Dam through high powered spotting scopes.
  • Holiday Closures

    The National Great Rivers Museum and Rivers Project Office, operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, announce the following holiday schedule. Both facilities will be closed on December 24 and 25 in observance of Christmas, and December 31 and January 1 in observance of the New Year.
  • Poker Paddle on the Illinois River

    Alton, Ill. – The Mississippi River Water Trail Association will be hosting a poker paddle fund raiser on September 7th, 2013! Attendees will float and paddle from Pere Marquette Boat Ramp down to Grafton, IL. They will take out and tally their hands at the Grafton Public Boat Ramp. Winners will receive 25% of the proceeds of the registration fees. This is a fun alcohol free event for avid paddlers. Voyageur style canoes will be onhand for paddlers that have never paddled this stretch of the river before. This is your opportunity to learn about the river with experienced guides. Safety boaters from the St. Louis Canoe and Kayak Club plus search and rescue volunteers will be available to assist and give paddling instruction.
  • Get Your Paddle On! at the Riverlands Paddle Festival

    Alton, Ill. - The Mississippi River Water Trail Association, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Meeting of the Rivers Foundation and their associated partners invite you to experience the Mississippi River first-hand at the Riverlands Paddle Festival in the Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary on Saturday, May 18, 2013. Paddling and other activities will be available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

    The National Great Rivers Museum along with the Meeting of the Rivers Foundation announces the return of the “Masters of the Sky” show, presented by the World Bird Sanctuary, February 16-18, 2013, at the National Great Rivers Museum.
  • National Great Rivers Museum hosts “Our World: A Slice of Life” Temporary Quilt Exhibit

    The National Great Rivers Museum is currently displaying a unique quilt project handcrafted by the Missouri Fiber Artists. This quilt was created by 14 different fiber artists who wanted to make a quilt using an unexpected shape. They decided on “Our World” as the theme and set out to make a round quilt. Each artist was asked to make a wedge-shaped piece that reflected their favorite place or time on Earth. The idea was for them to each create their own “slice of life”.
