  • Corps of Engineers invites public aboard the largest diesel towboat on the Mississippi River

    ST. LOUIS – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers St. Louis District offers the public two opportunities to tour the largest diesel towboat operating on the Mississippi River. Tours are offered to the public at no cost. Public open houses aboard the Motor Vessel MISSISSIPPI will take place: • Friday, Aug. 14 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., along the riverfront in Cape Girardeau, Mo. • Saturday, Aug. 15 from 8 a.m. - 11 a.m., along the riverfront in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
  • Summer Hunting Opportunities at Carlyle Lake

    CARLYLE LAKE – Carlyle Lake offers the outdoor sportsman a variety of late summer hunting opportunities. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources work together to manage public lands and waters at Carlyle Lake. More than 10,000 acres of public lands are open to public hunting to which all-current Illinois game laws and regulations are in effect. All hunters are also required to sign in and out daily and record harvest at the nearest hunter sign in box. Access areas are conveniently located around the lake to provide parking and access to public lands.
  • Dove Hunt for Sportsmen with Disabilities

    CARLYLE LAKE – Disabled sportsmen can now call or write to the Carlyle Lake Project Office to reserve access to one of several handicapped-accessible dove hunting blinds available for September 1-2, 2015. Hunting hours will be from 12:00 p.m. until sunset. The blinds are located among bountiful sunflowers at the Steins Field Access Area.
  • Carlyle Lake Update and Weekend Activities

    CARLYLE LAKE - As of 1:00 p.m. on Monday August 3, 2015, the pool elevation at Carlyle Lake was 450.44 feet, referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD), with a release rate of approximately 4,250 cubic feet of water per second (cfs). The inflow for Sunday August 2, 2015 was approximately 1,480 day second feet (dsf). The lake crested at 454.39 feet NGVD on July 5, 2015. The targeted summer pool is 445.0 feet NGVD. Carlyle Lake is currently working as designed to lessen flooding on downstream sections of the Kaskaskia and Mississippi Rivers.
  • Keyesport Recreation Area Temporarily Closed for Triathlon

    CARLYLE LAKE - RaceMaker Productions will be hosting a triathlon in the Keyesport Recreation Area at Carlyle Lake on Sunday, August 9, 2015. The triathlon will begin at 7:30 a.m. and will consist of a timed swim, run and bike course. The swim portion will take place at the Keyesport beach. The bike course will start at the Keyesport Recreation Area and will then travel on Clinton and Bond County roads. The route of the run course will take participants across the Keyesport levee onto Clinton and Bond County roads. While visiting Carlyle Lake during the triathlon, visitors are encouraged to take extra caution while driving in the areas of the triathlon course.
