    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is hosting four public workshops for the Melvin Price Locks and Dam water control manual revision.  Workshops will be held Tuesday, Dec. 13 from 1–3  p.m. and from 6–8 p.m. at the National Great Rivers Museum located at #2 Locks and Dam Way in Alton, Illinois, and  Thursday, Dec. 15 from 1–3 p.m. and from 6–8 p.m. at the Grafton City Hall located at 118 E Main St. in Grafton, Illinois.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers St. Louis District will host an open house this evening from 5-8 p.m., to discuss preliminary results from sampling efforts for radioactive material at Jana Elementary School in Florissant, Missouri, under the Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP).

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers St. Louis District Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program, or FUSRAP, will host a townhall meeting, November 17, from 5-8 p.m., to present the results of findings from sampling and testing at Jana Elementary School in Florissant, Missouri, and discuss them with members of the community.
  • New lifetime pass available for Military Veterans and Gold Star Families to access public lands

    The Biden-Harris administration announced that starting on Veterans Day (Nov. 11), veterans of the U.S. Armed Services and Gold Star Families can obtain a free lifetime pass to thousands of federal recreation sites spread out across more than 400 million acres of public lands, including national parks, wildlife refuges, and forests. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be participating in the new pass program.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers St. Louis District completed sampling for radioactive materials at the Jana Elementary School in Florissant, Missouri, this week as part of the Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program. Preliminary results show no presence of radioactive material above the expected range of background levels (the level of radioactivity Mother Nature already provides).

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today that it will waive day use fees at its more than 2,850 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide in observance of Veterans Day, Nov.11.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers sampling at Jana Elementary progresses, preliminary results forthcoming

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers continued sampling both inside and outside Jana Elementary School in Florissant, Missouri, this week. Activities performed this week included structure surveys and soil samples. Structure investigations were completed today. Soil investigations began Wednesday.  “Public safety is our top priority,” said Col. Kevin Golinghorst, St. Louis District commander. “Our team has the right expertise and experience to complete this work.” 
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers begins sampling at Jana Elementary

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers St. Louis District mobilized contractor, Leidos, to immediately commence sampling both inside and outside Jana Elementary School in Florissant, Missouri, October 24.  “We are in the process of collecting samples throughout the entire property to ensure the health and safety of the students and staff at Jana Elementary School,” said Phil Moser, St. Louis District program manager for the Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP). “This will include collecting soil samples and structure surveys both inside and outside the school. Sampling activities on Monday included conducting floor scans, collecting swipe samples inside the building, and surveying playground equipment outside the school.”
