Published May 8, 2015

ST. LOUIS – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District will hold a public meeting regarding cottage site leases Monday, May 18, 2015 at the National Great Rivers Museum, #2 Lock and Dam Way, Alton, Illinois, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

The meeting will provide additional information and updates about the Department of the Army Lease for Cottage Site Purposes, mainly focusing on the lease renewal process and how rental rates are determined. There will also be an opportunity to discuss general terms of the lease and lessee responsibilities.

“My expectation is for the Corps to better define the cottage site leasing program and provide an overview of the most recent rent values that were assigned to the leases," said Kevin Sommerland, Chief of the Regional Management and Disposal Branch.

Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. with presentations to be conducted from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. followed by a question and answer session from 7:30 p.m. - 8:00p.m. Subject matter experts will be on hand before and after the meeting to answer any questions or concerns.

"I am hopeful that the meeting will result in a better understanding and appreciation for the Corps' land management challenges and opportunities along the Mississippi River, to include recreation and natural resource management, floodplain management, and environmental stewardship," Sommerland stated.
