Lake Shelbyville Tree Stand Permits now available for 2014-15 Deer Season

Lake Shelbyville – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers would like to announce that the Lake Shelbyville Tree Stand Policy for this season will remain the same as it was last season.  The policy allows hunters to leave one seasonal tree stand up for the duration of the archery season.  Seasonal tree stands may be put up 2 weeks prior to the beginning of archery season.  Opening day of archery season is October 1, 2014.  Tree stands must be taken down 2 weeks after archery season ends.  The final day of archery season is January 18, 2015.  A roving tree stand can be left up for a period not to exceed 72 hours – the length of a 3 day weekend.

     Hunters wishing to purchase a seasonal tree stand permit must present a valid hunting license before a permit will be issued.  Seasonal tree stand permits may be obtained from the Lake Shelbyville Project Office Monday – Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and Bo Wood, Coon Creek or Lithia Springs Fee Booths during operating hours.  Roving tree stand permits may be obtained from the Lake Shelbyville Project Office Monday – Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Bo Wood, Coon Creek or Lithia Springs Fee Booth during operating hours, Ace Hardware in Sullivan, IL, or Buck Stop Archery in Shelbyville, IL.  For additional information concerning the Lake Shelbyville Tree Stand Policy, contact the Environmental Stewardship Department at (217) 774-3951, ext. 7049.
