  • Weather Related Closures at Mark Twain Lake

    In an effort to protect visitors and employees from impending freezing rain and snow, all U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) recreation areas, including boat ramps, day use areas, hunter fishermen access areas, firewood cutting areas, David C. Berti shooting range, Frank Russell archery park, M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center and Project Office at Mark Twain Lake will be closed during the expected weather event.

  • Kaskaskia Watershed Association to hold Annual Summit

    CARLYLE LAKE - The 21st Annual Kaskaskia Watershed Summit, sponsored by the Kaskaskia Watershed Association, Inc. (KWA), will be held on Monday, 7 March 2022, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Mariner’s Village Resort Conference Center in Carlyle, Illinois. Registration begins at 9:00 am. This year’s theme, “Maintaining the Kaskaskia System for Generations to Come”, will focus on the successes and needs of a system that has been functioning for around 50 years and continue well into the future. Speakers include:

  • Park Rangers Offer Public Tours of Lock and Dam 24 in Conjunction with Eagle Days

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rivers Project Office, is partnering with the City of Clarksville to bring additional experiences to their annual Clarksville Eagle Days. Throughout the two-day event, USACE Park Rangers will offer free public tours of Lock and Dam 24, which is not typically open for public touring.

  • Wappapello Lake Winter Watch

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host a Winter Watch (Eagle Viewing) event Saturday, February 5, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bill Emerson Memorial Visitor Center.

  • Kaskaskia Eagle Fest

    The 2022 Kaskaskia Eagle Fest event will be held on Saturday, February 5 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Jerry F. Costello Lock & Dam in Modoc, Ill.

  • Small World Programs Return to the Rend Lake Visitor Center

    After two years of limited public programming due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Rend Lake is excited to kick off Rend Lake’s 50th Anniversary with the Small World Program series beginning January 18, 2022. These programs will be held from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM on the third Tuesday of every month at the Rend Lake Visitor Center.

  • Rend Lake Small World Program Series- January: Wildly Warm for Winter

    On Tuesday, January 18th, at 10 AM, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Rend Lake will be presenting “Wildly Warm for Winter” at the Rend Lake Visitor Center as part of the Small World Program series. This series is designed for children 5 & under; however, all ages are welcome! As always, these programs are free and open to the public. In accordance with health requirements, masks will be worn while in the Rend Lake Visitor Center. 

  • It’s time to update what you know about Wood River’s levee system: a brief history and timeline of the system

    Initially organized in 1910, the Wood River Drainage and Levee District protects approximately 20,000 individuals and industry, transportation infrastructure, and 13,700 acres valued at $1.5 billion within Madison County. Over the past century, many things have made this infrastructure the resilient system it is today, protecting portions of Alton, East Alton, Wood River, Roxana, Hartford, and South Roxana.

  • Eagle Watch Event at Case-Halstead Library

    CARLYLE LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in partnership with the Case-Halstead Library, will be hosting an Eagle Watch on Saturday January 29, 2022, at the Case-Halstead Library in Carlyle, IL.

  • Ben Sapp Memorial Shed Hunt for Youth 2022

    All, Mark Twain Lake, January 10, 2022 – Are you looking for a new outdoor adventure? The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Mark Twain Lake in partnership with the Monroe City Whitetails Unlimited Chapter, the Mark Twain Lake Visitors and Educational Resource Center Committee, the Missouri Department of Conservation and the Mark Twain State Park are proud to announce the return of the Annual Shed Hunt for Youth. This event will take place on Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center. Face coverings will be required within the M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center due to the mask mandate for Federal buildings. Face coverings will not be provided. Shifts will take place every hour, on the hour, starting at 8:00 A.M. with the last shift starting at 3:00 P.M. The goal of this event is to introduce interested youth to the outdoors when most are getting a good dose of cabin fever anyway. There will be a chance for the younger children aged 2 to 12 years to hone their shed hunting skills with a Kiddie Hunt along the Eagle Bluff Trail at the Visitor Center. Sheds will be placed along the trail to give the little ones an idea of what a real shed find will feel like. Need to warm up after your hunt? The Visitor Center lobby will be filled with informational booths from various groups highlighting information on deer and other related outdoor topics throughout the day while the Monroe City Whitetails Unlimited Chapter will be providing a lunch of hot dogs, soup and chips. The event is free for all age groups, but pre-registration is required by 10:00 a.m. January 28, 2022.
