Corps of Engineers holds public workshop on water control

Published June 19, 2015

CARLYLE LAKE – Carlyle Lake will hold a public workshop Monday night to provide updated information on water control operations at the lake.

The workshop will begin at 6 p.m. at the Mariner’s Village Report Conference Center at 1 Resort Drive, Carlyle, Illinois 62231.

Presentations from the Corps of Engineers will include an update from Dam Safety experts, the lake’s water control plan, and current operations in response to flooding and forecasted rainfall. Following the presentations, the staff will host a question and answer session.

Carlyle Dam is operating as designed, helping reduce flood stages on the lower Kaskaskia and Mississippi Rivers. At higher lake levels, visitors can expect to see more activity on and around the dam as Corps personnel perform increased monitoring and inspection.
