Dam East and Hazlet State Park Campgrounds are open year round.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District, and its partners are hosting a virtual public meeting on September 30 to present information and gather feedback from the public on the scope of the River Des Peres-University City General Reevaluation Report, a Flood Risk Management (FRM) study. The meeting will be hosted online, and it will include an overview of the study process including preliminary findings and potential solutions.

    For Immediate Release: 2 September 2020 Release No.: 20-15 Fireworks on Lake Shelbyville – 50th Anniversary Celebration Lake Shelbyville – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Shelbyville Chamber of Commerce invite you to come out and celebrate Lake Shelbyville’s 50th Anniversary with a fireworks display over the lake on Saturday, September 12th. Fireworks will be launched at dusk from Ramp Point, located in Dam West Recreation Area. Lake Shelbyville has compiled a list of locations best suited for viewing the fireworks. Locations include: Dam West Recreation Area, Dam East Recreation Area, Lake Shelbyville Visitor Center, on top of the Lake Shelbyville Dam, and Dam West Overlook. At 8PM, the Dam Road will be closed to traffic prior to and during fireworks from the 9th street intersection to Dam East.

    CARLYLE LAKE – Due to public health concerns over the rise of coronavirus cases in the region, the annual Cruz-In the Dam Car Show, which was to be held on August 14 at Mariner’s Village, is cancelled.
  • Summer Hunting Opportunities at Carlyle Lake

    CARLYLE LAKE – Carlyle Lake offers a variety of late summer hunting opportunities. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources work together to manage public lands and waters at Carlyle Lake. More than 10,000 acres of public lands are open to public hunting to which all-current Illinois game laws and regulations are in effect. All hunters are required to sign in and out daily and record harvest at the nearest hunter sign in box. Access areas are conveniently located around the lake to provide parking and access to public lands. Several wildlife food plots have been planted around the lake. Plots consist of various crops including sunflowers, corn, and other row crops.
