  • Corps of Engineers holds public workshop on water control

    Carlyle Lake will hold a public workshop Monday night to provide updated information on water control operations at the lake.
  • Corps of Engineers prepares for rising river levels

    As rain continues to fall throughout the region, St. Louis District Commander Col. Anthony Mitchell activated the Emergency Operations Center today at 7 a.m. to increase awareness and be better prepared for forecasted precipitation and river stages.
  • High Water at Mark Twain Lake

    Mark Twain Lake is experiencing higher than normal water levels due to the recent rainfall in the watershed. The lake is expected to crest at less than 619 NGVD by Friday with no additional precipitation. The normal pool elevation is 606 NGVD.
  • Carlyle Lake Update

    CARLYLE LAKE - As of 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday June 16, 2015, the pool elevation at Carlyle Lake was 450.25 feet, referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD), with a release of approximately 4,800 cubic feet of water per second (cfs). The inflow for Monday June 15, 2015 was approximately 5,650 day second feet (dsf). With additional rainfall in the forecast, downstream releases will be increased on Wednesday June 17, 2015 to reach a release rate of 5,000 cfs.
  • Lock and Dam and Recreational Facilities Closing

    Current flooding conditions on the Kaskaskia River are causing the closure of the Corps operated Day Use and Camping areas. The maximum regulated pool elevation is 368.8, in reference to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD), and currently the Kaskaskia River is at 376.50 NGVD. Once the Kaskaskia River has reached the critical elevation of 380.5 the Lock and Dam will also close. Predictions currently forecast a crest of 381.5 feet NGVD and 35.4 feet at Chester on the Mississippi River on June 20th. Once the Mississippi River has crested and there is no more significant precipitation the river levels will fall. The facilities located at the Kaskaskia River Project will reopen as soon as flood water recedes and cleanup is finished.

Whether you enjoy fishing, camping, boating, bike riding or other outdoor activities, Carlyle Lake offers an abundance of recreation opportunities. While participating in water related recreation activities, always wear your life jacket. Over two-thirds of people who drown never had any intention of being in the water.
  • Corps of Engineers to Host FUSRAP Update Open House

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District will hold an open house on the Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program and current sampling efforts Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the Hazelwood Civic Center, 8969 Dunn Road, Hazelwood, Missouri, 6 to 8 p.m.
  • Carlyle Lake Pool Update

    CARLYLE LAKE - As of 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 8, 2015, the pool elevation at Carlyle Lake was 446.42 feet, referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD), with a release rate of approximately 1,870 cubic feet of water per second (cfs). Due to heavy rainfall upstream, the inflow was approximately 20,000 day second feet (dsf). Without additional precipitation, Carlyle Lake will crest on Friday, June 12, 2015 at approximately 450.0 feet NGVD. The target pool is 445.0 feet NGVD.

While participating in water related recreation activities, always wear your life jacket. Over two-thirds of people who drown never had any intention of being in the water. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers offers educational programs in the campgrounds and at the beaches every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday throughout the recreation season. Presentations are free and open to the public.
  • Beach Blast at Rend Lake, June 13

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Rend Lake is hosting the annual Rend Lake Beach Blast Saturday, June 13, at the South Sandusky Beach. Rend Lake Park Rangers will host this fun-filled event that includes games for all ages, music, and learning how to be safe while in and around the water. This popular event will kick off at noon and will run until 4:00 p.m.
