Lake Shelbyville is set to welcome holiday weekend visitors

Lake Shelbyville – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Shelbyville anticipates a very busy upcoming 4th of July holiday celebration. The Lake is open for all visitors to enjoy and should have plenty of water. As of June 29th, and with no additional rainfall, the lake is projected to crest on Monday, July 3, 2015 at 610.6 feet above sea level (referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD)). On June 29, at 7:00 a.m., the lake level was 609.59 feet above sea level NGVD, which is 9.89 feet above normal summer pool (599.7 feet above sea level NGVD).

All Lake Shelbyville U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds, boat ramps and courtesy docks are open for use. Wolf Creek and Eagle Creek State Park boat are open as well. Dam West Beach, Lithia Springs and Sullivan Beach are open for swimmers. Wolf Creek Beach, located in Wolf Creek State Park is also open for visiting public. This facility is open daily from 11:00 a.m. until sunset. The fee for Wolf Creek Beach is $1 per person. Wilborn Creek Beach and Coon Creek Beach are unusable at the current lake elevation as are some secondary facilities.

Visitors are reminded to use care while boating and always wear your life jacket while on or in the water.

The Lake Shelbyville Visitor Center is open daily, Sunday thru Thursday 9:30am to 4:30pm and Friday and Saturday from 9:30am to 6:30pm.
