CARLYLE LAKE – On Thursday, November 6, 2014 a dedication ceremony will be held to commemorate the renaming of the Kaskaskia Lock and Dam to the Jerry F. Costello Lock and Dam. The ceremony will be held at ten o’clock in the morning adjacent to the pavilion at the upstream boat ramp of the Jerry F. Costello Lock and Dam (formerly the Kaskaskia River Project Lock and Dam).

The Water Resources Reform and Development Act (WRRDA) of 2014, signed by President Obama on June 10th of this year re-designated the Kaskaskia Lock and Dam to the Jerry F. Costello Lock and Dam.  Former Congressman Costello served in Illinois 12th Congressional District from 1988 to 2013 and has been a proponent of transportation infrastructure and the Kaskaskia River interests for many years.

The dedication ceremony will be followed by the unveiling of a commemorative brass plaque, which will be displayed on the lock and dam.  The Lower Kaskaskia Stakeholders, Inc. and the Kaskaskia River Port District will host a reception immediately following the ceremony.
