Red Cross Blood Drive at Lake Shelbyville Visitor Center

Published Sept. 16, 2014

Lake Shelbyville – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Shelbyville is partnering with the American Red Cross for a blood drive on Thursday, September 18, 2014.  The blood drive is from 12 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Lake Shelbyville Visitor Center Auditorium.  Refreshments provided by Shelbyville McDonalds will be available for participants of blood drive. Participants who attempt to donate will receive a voucher for a free night of camping at Lake Shelbyville.  The certificate can be used at any standard, single capacity, non-reservable site at Bo Wood, Coon Creek, Lithia Springs, Lone Point, or Opossum Creek.

The American Red Cross works diligently every day to keep an adequate supply of blood, especially in preparation for the summer recreation months when donations are needed. In the U.S. today, a blood transfusion is needed every two seconds. The need for blood is ongoing—24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The American Red Cross encourages eligible donors to give the gift of life to help meet the demand.

To schedule an appointment call 1-800 RED CROSS or visit www.redcrossblood.org  and use the code USACE Shelbyville.  All donors must present a Photo ID. For questions please contact the Lake Shelbyville Interpretive Services and Outreach Department at (217) 774-3951 ext. 2.
