This year’s, theme “KASKASKIA HAS IT ALL” – River, Recreation, Rail, and Road, will showcase the lower reach of the Kaskaskia River from Fayetteville to the Confluence of the Mississippi River. The Kaskaskia River plays a vital role in the success of navigation, environmental stewardship, agriculture, water supply, recreation, and industry in the southwestern Illinois region.
The purpose of the showcase is to encourage people throughout the watershed, which extends from the headwaters of the Kaskaskia River north of Champaign, IL to the confluence of the Mississippi River, to work together to find common solutions to enhance and improve the watershed. The Kaskaskia Watershed covers all or parts of 22 counties in central and southwest Illinois.
