Mark Twain Lake Announces "Smores for Lifejackets" Night

Published July 18, 2013

Mark Twain Lake, Monroe City, Missouri – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Mark Twain Lake would like to invite everyone out for the “Smores for Lifejackets” night at the M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center on July 27th.  Come out to the visitor center between 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. wearing a life jacket and volunteers will be available to help you make a delicious smore.  While there, take the opportunity to check out other life jacket types such as inflatables.  Try them on, see how they work.

Have life jackets laying around you don’t use?  Bring them by that night and donate them for use at our Life Jacket Loaner Stations located at boat ramps and beaches around the lake.  The Life Jacket Loaner Stations allow boaters and swimmers to borrow life jackets for the day and return them to the station before they leave.  They are a great way to give people the opportunity to stay safe while enjoying all Mark Twain Lake has to offer.

Donations of products and funds that will make the event possible have been given by Hickman’s IGA and Cannon Dam General Store both of Perry, MO as well as the Mark Twain Lake Visitors and Educational Resource Center Committee (MTLVERCC).

The M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center is located south of the Clarence Cannon Dam on Rt. J.  For more information, please email marktwaininfo@usace.army.mil or call 573-735-4097.
