Lake Shelbyville – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Shelbyville has reported high water conditions at the lake. The pool elevation has risen to 9.43 feet above normal summer pool (599.7 feet referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD)). The level as of 7 a.m. on April 25 was 609.13 feet NVGD and the discharge rate was at 4,180 cubic feet per second (cfs). The rising pool has impacted some sites around the lake. Boat launch facilities with courtesy docks will remain open in all major recreation areas with the exception of Whitley Creek. All secondary boat ramps are closed. This includes Coal Shaft Bridge, Sand Cove Road, Johnson’s Bluff and Bruce West.

The Illini Backpacking Trail, which runs from Lone Point Recreation Area to Eagle Creek State Park, Coon Creek Trail, and Okaw Bluff Trail are all closed. Hikers can still use the Camp Camfield Trail.

The campsites that are open for the season, Bo Wood and Lithia Springs, will remain open. Some are slightly impacted, but there should be plenty of sites available for visitors.

During this higher water period boaters should use extra caution on the lake and be aware of lower bridge clearances, floating debris and submerged hazards during

As the water at Lake Shelbyville continues to remain above normal levels, visitors should be aware that some areas will be temporarily impacted. If an area is posted closed please do not enter the area. Do not put yourself and others at risk.
