Spring Forward- Get out and help at the Mark Twain Lake Visitor Center

Published March 15, 2013

Even though the recent snow storms may be fresh in everyone’s mind and there still may be quite a few snow piles hanging around, spring will be here before we know it. What better time to come out and help get the M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center ready before the busy recreation season hits.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Mark Twain Lake invite interested groups or individuals to the Visitor Center on Saturday March 16th and Sunday March 17th from 10am to 4pm each day for a spring cleanup. Volunteers will have the opportunity to assist Park Rangers with mulching, pruning, dead-heading, leaf removal and assist in overall sprucing and helping get the Visitor Center ready for another busy recreation season. Participants that devote their time will receive a Mark Twain Lake water bottle to take home. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to fulfill hours needed for civic involvement, community service or for the individual simply looking to improve the esthetics of a popular local attraction.

The M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center is located along Highway J just south of the Clarence Cannon Dam. If you would like more information please feel free to contact the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers by email at marktwaininfo@usace.army.mil or call 573-735-4097. Even though registration is not required, groups are encouraged to make contact so an estimate of supplies needed to accommodate can be made.
