The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District, federal partner the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and state partner the Missouri Department of Conservation are planning a habitat rehabilitation project for the West Alton Islands on the Mississippi River.
An open house will be held Wednesday, December 13, 2023 from 5-7 p.m. at the Audubon Center at Riverlands for anyone interested in learning more about the project or providing feedback to the study team.
The open house is an opportunity for the public to bring to the planning team’s attention local considerations, conditions, and to make suggestions or ask questions. Personnel will be available to provide information, answer questions, and discuss the project with attendees. Attendees may drop in at any time.

The project, which is funded through the Upper Mississippi River Restoration Program, will enhance habitat within the 1,823-acre study area in the lower portion of navigation Pool 26 on the Mississippi River and is located in between river mile 203 and 215.5 in St. Charles County, Mo.
