Small World Programs Return to the Rend Lake Visitor Center

Benton, IL – After two years of limited public programming due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Rend Lake is excited to kick off Rend Lake’s 50th Anniversary with the Small World Program series beginning January 18, 2022. These programs will be held from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM on the third Tuesday of every month at the Rend Lake Visitor Center.

Rend Lake Park Rangers have created new and exciting programs to get children engaged in topics ranging from animals to gardening to experimenting with slime in a “Grossology” program. The 2022 Small World Programs are as follows:

January 18- Wildly Warm for Winter

February 15- Groundhog’s Shadows

March 15- Who Goes There?

April 19- April Showers Bring May Flowers

May 17- Sounds of Spring

June 21- Water Fun in the Sun

July 19- Grossology

August 16- Be a Bird for a Day

September 20- Move like a Monarch

October 18- Creepy Crawly Critters

October 28- Trick-or-Treat the Visitor Center

November 15- It’s Turkey Time

December 20- Let’s Celebrate Christmas.

Small World Programs are designed for younger children to learn and experience all things nature related.  Though mainly for children 5 years of age and younger, all ages are welcome! As always, these programs are free and open to the public.
