Carlyle Lake Summer Camp Series

CARLYLE LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in partnership with the City of Carlyle will host the Carlyle Lake Summer Camp Series on Fridays at 10:00 a.m. in July and August beginning Friday, 19 July 2019. These fun and educational programs are free and open to the public. Programs will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Dam West Day Use Shelter #2. Each presentation is packed with hands-on activities appropriate for all ages! Presentation dates and descriptions are below.

July 19, 10:00 a.m.: Macro netting

This hands-on presentation will have visitors hunting for macro invertebrates while dip netting in Willow Pond. The more creatures you find the more you'll learn. Be ready to play in the mud!

July 26, 10:00 a.m.: Fishing

Put your fishing skills to the test! This fun program will provide visitors with tips and tricks for reeling in a catch! Participants will get to try out their new fishing skills at Willow Pond!

August 2, 10:00 a.m.: Renewable or Not?

Discover the lifecycle of resources you use every day. Learn the differences between renewable, nonrenewable, and perpetual resources. Participants will get to play "renewable or not?" to discover what you can reuse!

August 9, 10:00 a.m.: Scavenger Hunt

Join Park Rangers on a nature scavenger hunt! Visitors will be searching the outdoors to see what they can discover. Come with your expert detective skills!
