CARLYLE LAKE – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Carlyle Lake is preparing for a fun and safe holiday weekend celebrating Independence Day. On Saturday, June 1st, fun, family friendly activities will be taking place in the Dam West Recreation Area! The activities are free of charge and open to the public.
Park Rangers will be on the beach presenting water safety activities focused on educating the participants of the importance of thinking safety when recreating around the water starting at 12:30 p.m. Registration for the sand volleyball tournament and sandcastle building contest also begins at 12:30 p.m. Participants may register for contests at the water safety tent located on the south side of Dam West Beach. Sandcastle contest participants may begin as soon as they are registered and the volleyball tournament will kick off at 1:00 p.m.
Music from the annual “Dam Jam” may be heard from Picnic Shelter 2 in the Dam West Day Use Area beginning at 1:00 p.m. Bands scheduled to perform include:
1:00 p.m. The Jumpstarts
2:30 p.m. Simple Therapy
4:00 p.m. Selective Memory
5:30 p.m. Stump Water Shine
7:30 p.m. Double Shot
The Fireworks Spectacular will begin at dusk and will be set off from point 1, across from the Dam West Boat Ramp. Viewing of the fireworks can best be seen from the top of the Dam, Dam West Day Use Area, Dam East Recreation Area or from the water.
The Carlyle Lake Fireworks Spectacular is hosted by the Carlyle Lake Fireworks Committee and is made possible by funds raised by the Haunted Trail, donations from local corporate sponsors, Carlyle Lake patrons, and from donations collected the evening of the fireworks by members of the fireworks committee. Members of the committee will be stationed at the entrances to the Dam West and Dam East Recreation Areas.
