Published April 30, 2017

Wappapello Lake – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Wappapello Lake reports significant rains received in the St. Francis watershed north of Wappapello Lake have caused the upper St. Francis River and Wappapello Lake to rise. As of 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 30, 2017, the Wappapello Lake level was 382.52 feet relative to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD) and rising. The lake level is forecast to crest at approximately 400.5 feet NGVD on Wednesday May 3, 2017 without additional rainfall in our watershed. The top of the Auxillary Spillway is 394.74 feet NGVD. The present discharge is approximately 8,200 cfs, but will be increased to 10,600 cfs by 2:00 pm today. We will continue to increase the discharge to 15,000 cfs tomorrow. This lake elevation will cause multiple road closures in our area, be prepared to find alternate routes.
