Corps of Engineers to Host FUSRAP Public Meeting

Published Dec. 7, 2015

ST. LOUIS – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District is hosting a public meeting on the Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP) for Coldwater Creek Properties on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 in the James J. Eagan Community Center, Florissant Civic Center Gym, 1 James J. Eagan Drive, Parker Road at Waterford Drive, Florissant, Missouri, 63033, from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.

FUSRAP protects human health and the environment by addressing the risks at designated sites contaminated with radioactive waste from the Nation’s early atomic weapons development and production activities. The Program is committed to protecting human health and the environment, executing approved remedies for cleaning up radioactive contamination above health-based cleanup guidelines, and minimizing effects on residents and area businesses. Since 1997, more than 1 million cubic yards of soil have been remediated by St. Louis District FUSRAP.

The meeting will provide the public with a FUSRAP update on Coldwater Creek properties and the next section of sampling from St. Denis Bridge to Old Halls Ferry Road beginning in 2016. The presentation will be followed by a brief question and answer session and breakout sessions to discuss remediation at the Palm Drive Properties, Duchesne Park, and Archdiocese Property. The breakout session will give the public an opportunity to address any specific issues or concerns with a FUSRAP subject matter expert.

"This is an extremely important Corps of Engineers mission for the residential and commercial North County communities, and our continued success relies in great part on keeping the communities we serve informed,” said Bruce Munholand, chief of FUSRAP for the St. Louis District. “We look forward to the discussion on how work is progressing, and addressing any questions or concerns people may have about FUSRAP and its impacts in the communities.”
