Mark Twain Lake Hosts Public Meeting on Project Master Plan Update

Published March 16, 2015
Mark Twain Lake - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) at Mark Twain Lake will host a public meeting on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center to receive public input regarding the Master Plan update for Clarence Cannon Dam and Mark Twain Lake.  The meeting is scheduled from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and will be an open house format.  This format will provide the public, partners, and stakeholders the flexible opportunity to arrive anytime during the meeting period to identify public interests, concerns, and to solicit input for the update.

A Project Master Plan is defined by USACE as the strategic land use management document that guides the comprehensive management and development of all project recreational, natural, and cultural resources throughout the life of a Corps water resources development project.  In general, it defines “how” the resources will be managed for the public use and resource conservation.  The MP does not address specifics of regional water quality, shoreline management, or water level management.  Additionally, the operation and management of operational facilities (dam, gates, powerhouses, spillways, etc.) is not included.

The current Master Plan, which was last updated in 2004, may be viewed at the M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center and Project Office weekdays during business hours or on the project web-site at http://www.mvs.usace.army.mil/Missions/Recreation/MarkTwainLake/masterplan.aspx .  If you are unable to attend and wish to submit a comment you may do so either by mail to the Mark Twain Lake Project Office, 20642 Highway J, Monroe City, Missouri 63456, or through the website listed above.
