  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces remediation activities in Florissant subdivision

    ST. LOUIS – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) St. Louis District, under its Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP), has begun sampling activities in a subdivision located in Florissant, Missouri. This initiative includes portions of the right-of-way of Cades Cove Drive and on the common grounds adjacent to Coldwater Creek.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks comments on draft report of Meramec River study near Fenton, public meeting set

    ST. LOUIS – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District, released the draft report for the CAP 205: Meramec River near Fenton, Mo., Flood Risk Management Study for public review. The report presents a preliminary recommendation consisting of nonstructural actions to reduce flood damages to commercial and residential structures.

    ST. LOUIS – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District, Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program, or FUSRAP, will hold an open house in Florissant June 8 from 6 to 8 p.m.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to increase activity on Jana Elementary property

    ST. LOUIS – The public will start to see an increase in activity on Jana Elementary School property in the next few weeks as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) St. Louis District prepares to start remediation work in the banks of Coldwater Creek under the Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP).
  • Upper Mississippi and Illinois Rivers Experiencing Widespread and Regional Changes

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District; and the U.S. Geological Survey, in partnership with others, have released a report regarding the Ecological Status and Trends of the Upper Mississippi and Illinois Rivers. The Status and Trends report is the third of its kind produced as part of the Upper Mississippi River Restoration (UMRR) program and includes information on long term changes in water quality, aquatic vegetation and fish from six study areas spread across the Upper Mississippi and Illinois Rivers. The report also summarizes trends in possible drivers of long-term changes in the river including river discharge and floodplain land cover.
  • Upper Mississippi River System Hydraulic Model Update Complete

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island, St. Paul and St. Louis Districts recently completed a seven-year effort to develop an updated, standardized hydraulic model for the Upper Mississippi River System, including the Illinois Waterway. The model can be used to evaluate and communicate the effects of floodplain modifications to provide better predictability and more consistent flood risk management for the Upper Mississippi River System.

    Wappapello Lake – Keeping in line with state and federal guidelines, the Corps of Engineers is pleased to announce Corps operated campgrounds at Wappapello Lake will open for the season just in time for the Memorial Day Holiday weekend! All Corps campgrounds will open on Friday, May 22. This includes all of Greenville, Redman Creek and Peoples Creek campgrounds (developed campgrounds) as well as all primitive campgrounds and primitive camping.
