Wappapello Lake – Even though summer is winding down, there are still plenty of things to do and enjoy at Wappapello Lake. Please mark your calendars for the following activities the entire family will enjoy.
AUGUST 9 at 2 p.m. – “Snakes Alive!” at the Bill Emerson Memorial Visitor Center
AUGUST 23 – Fourth Annual Classic Amphibious Triathlon
AUGUST 26 through SEPTEMBER 2 – “Remembering Our Fallen” travelling exhibit at the Bill Emerson Memorial Visitor Center. A ceremony will be held on August 30 at 10 a.m. at Picnic Shelter #3 near the visitor center.
AUGUST 29 through SEPTEMBER 1 – 25-Mile Yard Sale on the Bill Emerson Memorial Visitor Center Grounds (Special Use Permit required for free spaces to set up)
SEPTEMBER 13 – Wappapello Outdoor Opportunities for Disabled Sportsmen Activities (boating, fishing, crafts, games, archery, air gun shooting) for the mentally and physically challenged.
SEPTEMBER 20 and 21 – 23rd Annual Old Greenville Days
SEPTEMBER 27 – National Public Lands Day
NOVEMBER 28 through DECEMBER 28 – 22nd Annual Festival of Lights Christmas Auto Tour
The Bill Emerson Memorial Visitor Center is open Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. After Labor Day (September 1) it will be opened on weekends only from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. until October 26, when it will close for the season.
Redman Creek Beach is closed for the season. Rockwood Point and Peoples Creek Beaches will remain open until September 2. Remember, wearing life jackets do save lives!
