St. Louis District Library

The library collection includes books, subscriptions, state and federal documents, and electronic resources. The focus of the collection is on civil engineering; environmental materials, chiefly river systems, and water resources. Although the collection is primarily for Corps of Engineers employees, it is available to outside users by appointment or through interlibrary loan with your local library.

The library is open Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m., except federal holidays for St. Louis District employees. Non Corps employees should call 314-314-8883 or e-mail to make an appointment.

Materials can be checked out by St. Louis District staff for six weeks, or on long-term loan for certain materials, and four weeks for all other users. Materials can be renewed if no one else has requested it. The Annual Reports of the Corps of Engineers are non-circulating. The Annual Reports of the Corps of Engineers are non-circulating.

Reference and Electronic Resources

Reference:

Providing answers to your questions, whether a phone number or a literature search on a research project, is very important to us. The library staff will try to locate accurate information in a timely manner. We also provide instructions on using manual or electronic resources available on CDROM or the Internet.

Interlibrary Loans:

The district library networks with other libraries and document delivery services to obtain materials not available in our collection. If you cannot find an item, call 314-314-8883 or e-mail the library for assistance. The library does follow the Copyright Law of the U.S. found in Title 17, section 108.

Copyright Restrictions:

The copyright law of the United States (title 17, United States code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reprouction. One of these conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship or research."

If a user makes a photocopy for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This library reserves the right to refuse a copying order if, in its judgement, fulfillment of the order would involve a violation of copyright law.
